What does Barons-Eureka-Warner stand for?
Barons and Warner are self-explanatory as they represent the areas of Barons and Warner.
We have often wondered what Eureka represented. A long time resident of Taber, Ray Evanson, was able to shed some light. Apparently years ago, Eureka was the name of a coal mine north of Taber, and the area was known as the M.D. of Eureka
When the Health Unit was being formed in 1951, the Municipal District of Barons, which is now part of the County of Lethbridge defined the northwest boundary, and the Municipal District of Eureka - now the Municipal District of Taber defined the east boundary.
In 1981, the County of Warner joined with Barons-Eureka which completed our name Barons-Eureka-Warner.
